Autumn In the pink: Buy Now, Wear Now.

For people who work in fashion, there’s often a feeling of seasonal displacement. For months now I’ve been scrupulously studying the A/W13 collections, not to mention the 2014 Resort trends. Thinking so far ahead can leave one in a strange style limbo; when you’re pre-occupied with what’s coming you tend to miss what’s going on in the moment (this statement is true to many of life’s situations, but for now I’ll stick to fashion). Fall 2013 Trend: Think Pink: Fashion Weeks around the globe featuring Fall trends have come to a close and, sa… — CHAOS Magazine (@chaosmag) July 17, 2013   The good news is that fashion is an ever-changing creature, and these days seasonally effected confusion is less of a problem. Sale Shopping: How to get it right

The average British shopper spends around £300 at the sales; when hitting the stores it’s tempting to go for quantity rather than quality.  There’s a lot to be said for getting home with sack loads of goodies and trying on dozens of new outfits.  The perils of mass and frenzied purchasing is that it can lead to a wardrobe jammed full of clothes that are poor quality and won’t last.  It’s worth applying some considered thought when snapping up sales bargains. The freezing spring left retailers with merchandise coming out of their ears. Consequentially there’s an abundance of sartorial rich pickings at up to 80% off.  Rather than bringing home half the high street, why not buy one or two really interesting pieces that will add serious kudos to your look? Lady Leather: this autumn’s new take on subversive chic

A mood of refined elegance is prevailing this autumn; on the runways ladylike models, reminiscent of Hitchcock muses, sashayed their way down the catwalk.  The sound of  slim heels click-clicking and the swish-swoosh of full skirts were the soundtrack of the season.  Necklines are set to be modestly high, waists are nipped in and well-manicured hands are delicately sheathed in dainty gloves.  It’s a classically beautiful look that works for lots of women, however, this time round the Hitchcock heroine has a sting in her tail. The most elegant clothes of the season are produced in a subversive material – leather.  Not just your standard black either –fall’s incarnation of Tippi Hedren comes in a bounty of colours, from ruby red and emerald teal at Prada to delicate grey-lilac at Proenza Schouler.  Gucci […]

Call of the Wild: How to knock the Spots off A/W13

With summer in glorious full bloom it may seem strange to suggest planning an autumn look, but the smart shopper should consider each purchase in terms of getting maximum mileage.  A huge trend for A/W13 is animal print and leopard is top of the spots.  Animal prints are a perennial classic and come back in some form or another every year, but this autumn’s big cats are refined and sophisticated.  Gone are any connotations of tawdry cheapness; this season’s animal is a classy beast. The fall collection from Burberry Prorsum combined bold leopard print with muted camel knits, flashes of gold and classic feminine tailoring.  DKNY took a more street approach to leopard prints with mannish shapes and 90’s inspired layers, but still maintaining a hyper chic colour palate of leopard print, black […]
