I’ve been a sucker for 70s’ inspired looks since time immemorial. The wafty sleeves, big hats and billowing skirts get my heart thumping. This Autumn stream-lined, 90’s inspired looks are making room for free-flowing romanticism. There are two muses for this look, Stevie Nicks and Kate Bush. Both of them were at the height of their powers in the 70s and they embodied a free spirited, white witch vibe which feels right for the fall.
This trend is great for the awkward trans-seasonal period. The floating skirts and mutton sleeves work nicely in warm weather with sandals and oversized shades, but it also looks the business in the winter with an Afghan sheepskin coat and knee high boots. I’ll be working the look in a monochrome palette to keep it chic and dismiss any notions of fancy dress.
