The “Glow”

Pregnancy is often sold as a magical time in a woman’s life, when she glows with internal serenity. This, in my experience, is cobblers. I’ve been tired, grumpy, spotty and sore with muscular aches and pains. Mind you, my pregnancy has been a walk in the park compared to some women I know, who’ve been afflicted with hyperemesis gravidarum; severe sickness that lasts for the full nine months. I’ve been blogging less frequently, partly due to weariness and new writing projects, but also because my sartorial choices are increasingly limited. I know once the baby is here, I’ll have even less time and energy. However, I’ll also find a new way of dressing. Unfortunately, I didn’t inherit my Nan’s skill for sewing, […]

Blue Velvet

I really into velvet right now, it can be tricky but when styled right, it’s perfect for winter parties. Givenchy, Alexander Wang,  and Christopher Kane used velvet in their AW15 collections. I love the old school opulence and glamour associated with the luxurious fabric, the key to keeping it modern and chic is to choose clean shapes and great tailoring. I fancy wearing a velvet skirt during the day, paired with a sporty T or a denim shirt, but that’s just me. Feature image Christopher Kane AW15, courtesy of
